We have received information about the counterfeit sellers in Korea thru mobile, messengers etc and been tracking them for long time. After we located their warehouses and their offices, with support from Seoul Customs, we managed to arrest them all and this has been reported on the news and media as below.



The counterfeit sellers who have been using China mobile messengers and Russia mobile messengers and etc in order to avoid being traced by the Customs, have been arrested.



On 26th, the Customs announced that they have arrested 4 men including Mr. Yang (age 47) who have been distributed counterfeit items including China counterfeit bags worth 5 billion Won (4,700 each) and sent 3 to the prosecutors.



Mr. Yang ordered counterfeit products thru China mobile messengers (WECHAT). He received them by normal deliveries when the numbers are just 1~2. When the order was big, he received them thru unidentified Korean-Chinese. (Door to door)



Chinese manufacturer delivered the products to where Mr. Yang designated and received cash in order to evade trace from the Customs. Mr. Yang and his men sold these counterfeits thru Kakaostory and Instagram etc.



The money made out of this practice were transferred to the accounts that belong to their parents, brothers and cousins.



They even used Russia mobile messenger Telegram in order to evade the Customs cyber trade monitoring.


This is the first criminal case of buying counterfeits thru WECHAT and selling them thru Telegram.


Telegram allows to exchange encrypted messages and as soon as the dialog is over, it deletes the messages automatically.



“Some of them have been charged with trademark violation in the past and I can’t believe that they are doing it again during the probation. We will continue to monitor and find online and smart phone counterfeit illegal trade.” Said Mr. Choi from Seoul Customs.
