After 2 month long trace, we arrested seven importer and wholesaler who imported counterfeit running shoes, jackets, bags and wallets etc. from China and distributed to local retailers. We also seized about 15,000 counterfeit items.

The police arrested a group of people who imported counterfeit luxury items worth of 220 billion won. They used personal information that was leaked illegally for selling the items.

The police arrested 7 people including Mr. Moon who is 51 years old.

They were alleged to have imported 156,000 counterfeit bags, wallets and shoes etc from China for a year and 4 months from 2013 May.

They are worth 223.2 billion won which is the biggest in value in the history said the police.

They also used personal information of 29,000 Koreans obtained from China illegally.

They cleared the customs as if Korean is buying an item from overseas because they knew that the customs only required an invoice with the personal information when an item is purchased on the Internet.

Mr. Moon and others stored these items in the warehouse located in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do and distributed them to Seoul.

During the customs clearance, there was a government official who was involved in this illegal act.

The police found out that a government official working in a customs office in Gyeonggi-do received tens of million won from Mr. Moon and others for a smooth customs clearance.

The police will summon this officer for an investigation and decide the punishment.
