We’ve been trailing and investigating for about two months and finally found seven suppliers, importers and wholesalers etc who distributed counterfeit bags and wallets etc. They were imprisoned and brought to the court for decision and about 50,000 counterfeits were seized.

This issue has been broadcasted thru about 15 broadcasters and 20 presses as below.

1) Prosecutor, (Lee, Hyeon-cheol) from Busan Prosecutor’s Office captured seven infringers including supplier

    A and mid-distributor B etc, who smuggled 48,367 luxury counterfeits manufactured in China and brought

    them to the court. Also seven retailers who had sold these items were indicted without detention.

    He also requested arrangement for smuggler C who supplied counterfeits to B.

2) According to the prosecutor, A bought 48,367 counterfeits (worth 51.5 billion KRW in real price) that

    were manufactured in Guangzhou thru C and mid-distributor B helped smuggle them to Korea.

3) A has sold 20,000 counterfeits that were smuggled from November 2011 to July 2015 (worth 24.4 billion

    KRW in real price). The remaining 28,000 counterfeits (worth 28.9 billion KRW in real price) were stored in

    4 warehouse containers in Siheung and Gwangmyeong in Gyeonggi for sale which were seized during

    this investigation.

    Prosecutor explained that they knew that only the front part of the container was inspected during

    customs clearance so that they hid the counterfeits in the back of the container.
