We’ve been investigating and tracing the suppliers and importers who have been importing Tablet PCs, mobile phone batteries and Bluetooth earphones and etc that were using Samsung and LG etc logos illegally. This work has collaborated with Busan Prosecutor’s officers and we found 13 trademarks infringers, two arrested and 11 booked without detention. About 15,000 counterfeits were seized.

About 10 medias in Korea released news in relation to this incidents as below.

1) 2016. 01. 25. Jeong, Seung-myeon (prosecutor) in dept.1 announced that smuggler A and distributor B were arrested and 11 other distributors were booked without detention for smuggling and distributing counterfeit electronics manufactured in China.

2) Seized were 1,099 Samsung Tablet PCs, 1,824 mobile chargers, 648 mobile wireless chargers, 2,200 USB memories, 350 LG Bluetooth headsets and Dr.Dre headsets etc, which comes to 15,192 in total equivalent to 1.2 billion Won.

3) Suspect A and B have smuggled counterfeit electronics from last August to December and distributed gifts and promotion items to Insurance and home shopping companies throughout the country.

4) “There have been many cases for raiding counterfeit electronics but I’ve never seen such a case when expensive complete products were smuggled. Korea was notorious for making and distributing counterfeit products in the past but this is the first time to see the premium electronics of domestic large companies being manufactured in China and imported back to Korea.
